Significant tax savings can result by limiting the assessment of FICA taxes to a "reasonable" salary level versus paying self-employment tax on an unincorporated business' entire net earnings. Many self-employed taxpayers qualify for the home office deduction. The tax savings of this deduction is sometimes effectively lost when the business is incorporated.
