Computers as a subject of study
An increasing number of anthropologists are now examining the complex social patterns that result from people using computers in offices, laboratories, schools and libraries. Indeed, those engaged in the development of computer software and hardware increasingly use anthropologically-inspired research methods in trying to improve their existing products and develop new ones. This is generating jobs for anthropologists in the major centres of computer research and development. Getting started with electronic resources

Recent Publications After Modern Curriculum Press published Meeting the Internet Challenge in 1997 I set up a web site on their server so teachers and students could use the book and have the benefit of regular updates. That site is no longer maintained. I have spoken to a number of teachers' groups about using the Internet in the classroom. One of my pieces, The Death of the Textbook , boils down many elements of my speeches and was reproduced in several journals including: Talking Points (NCTE) The Well Connected Educator (Global Schoolhouse) The Journal of OnLine Learning , and Classroom Leadership (ASCD). As the team leader of a winning Arizona Stock Market Game team, I wrote the story of how my Learning Disabled students succeeded against many odds. " A Success Story " was published in the SMG Educator (Spring 1998) Discussion Lists I have created and presently maintain several electronic discussion lists for teachers including: TAWL (Teachers Applying Whole Language)

Products Attention Harvest Offering Customers!! It has recently come to our attention that American Church Envelope Company, our offering envelope source for many years, has filed Chapter 11. This filing by American Church has come as a surprise to us. As many of you know the beginning of the new year is a critical time for receiving new envelopes especially boxed sets. Harvest has hundreds of envelope customers. This news could hardly have come at a worse time. Several orders have been delayed as American Church is trying to restructure. Harvest is currently in the process of researching alternative vendors. We have contacted 3 potential sources. We hope to have a decision soon on a new envelope provider. In the mean time please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this has caused you. If you have any questions or need some assistance please feel free to contact us.
