Through understanding the cultures and traditions of the past, students can deepen their understanding of the way of life in Ancient Civilizations...Hopefully, students can learn to see history as something relevant to modern day life, and re-evaluate the things they have around them as being those that are descended from a long tradition starting from the civilizations a long time ago.

    Discussion
Most of the focus on diversity is about race and gender, but while most of the controversy over religion differences within the European Americnas died out after the 1920s, it hasn't changed the fact that there are enormous differences between religious groups, and the differences are much greater between the religions than between ethnic groups in terms of economics, education, politics and whatever. Most are aware of the disproportionate dominance of the Jews, but liberal Christians and the non-religious are also over-represented in the most desirable institutions. The least represented are the conservative Christians like the Baptists, they are often more under-represented than Blacks, who have affirmative action while there is no affirmative action for any Euro-American groups, regardless of religion, or under-represented sub-groups.

Hinduism History Beliefs Worship Holy Days Customs Overview of Hinduism Hinduism is the world's third most popular religion, with around 900 million followers. Those who follow this faith are known as "Hindus". About 80% of the population of India regard themselves as Hindus. Hinduism is the fourth most popular religion in Britain with around 400,000 followers. Bare Essentials of Hinduism
    • Hinduism is over 3000 years old, although elements of the faith are much older. No founder, single teacher, nor prophets. Not a single unified religion. Originated near the river Indus. Hindus believe in a universal soul or God called Brahman. There are many other deities such as Krishna, Shiva, Rama and Durga. Hindus believe that existence is a cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, governed by Karma.

Hinduism is a way of living according to the one's understanding of principles of Vedas and Upanishads. Veda is revealed knowledge. Just as the knowledge of gravity was revealed to Newton, similarly, in India, many Rishis or Seers were awakened to certain transcendental Eternal Truths. These Rishis realized that their real nature was not concerned with or linked with 'body or mind', nor was it dependent on sense perceptions, but was in fact identical with the Universal Consciousness.
