Dallas Area Rock Climbing Gyms
The gyms:
  • Stone Works 1003 Fourth Avenue Carrollton, Texas 75006 760-7611 fax In God's Grain Elevators at Beltline and I35. They are the world's tallest indoor climbing gym with climbs up to 110 feet straight up. There are several reasons why I consider this gym to be a great gym:
    • Owners - The gym is owned by Karen Henry. She is an outstanding climber (Karen was ranked 11th nationally), are softspoken (not boastful), and seem to really want to make Stone Works a great place to climb.
    • Staff - The group that work at the gym are very helpful. Chuck Quon is nationally ranked also [Chuck has moved to the mountains.....:(].
    • Height. 110 feet is a long way up for a newbie like me.
    • Variety. Look at the Treehouse and ceiling climbs. The Gymnasium (jugs galore) and the routes with nothing but thumbtacks.
    • Lots of lead climbing is available (if they can keep the ingrates from stealing the biners).
    • Size - this gym is huge, and they just opened part of the upstairs portion. With seven vertical areas to complete (not 7 climbs, 7 areas with multiple routes and topography), it will be a climbing

is your access to rock climbing locations in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma. Many of the climbing destinations mentioned in the Ouachita Mountains Rock Climbing Adventures page are well known and very popular Climbing destinations while others are recently discovered structures, or little known structures hidden away in the Ouachita Mountains. Many are easy to get to, while others provide an adventure in just getting to the location! In that some of these locations are recently discovered rocks, and have not been graded by experienced climbers, we suggest all climbers to have an experienced climber to assess the structure to assure proper safety. The Ouachita Mountains range of east-west ridges between the Arkansas and Red rivers, extending c.200 mi (320 km) from central Ark. into SE Okla. Magazine Mt. (c.2,800 ft/850 m high) is the tallest peak. The Ouachita Mts. are geologically considered outlier of the Appalachian Mts. They are composed of strongly folded and faulted sedimentary rocks. A whetstone industry is near Hot Springs, Ark. Mineral springs, lakes, and extensive wooded areas attract tourists. Several parts of the region have been set aside as public parks or forest reservations. Only climb with proper instruction and proper equipment. Enjoy our mountains, but leave them unblemished and without litter. Do not climb on private property without the expressed consent of the owner.

91. Camp Green Cove, Employment Overview
Camp counselor jobs at NC mountain camp. We teach hiking, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, horseback riding, mountain biking, rock climbing, swimming, and tennis.
http://www.greencove.com/employment/employment_index.htm
Wanted: Women, young and old, in search of meaningful summer jobs. Average pay, long hours, and more personal rewards than you can imagine. What's In The Job?
  • Instruction responsibility: teaching kids in your activity or leading trips, and... Counseling responsibility: living and working with 5 or 6 kids directly, and... Participation and influence as a member of the camp community

Green Cove has a long standing tradition as an adventure camp for girls. Because a good camp is devoted full-time to kids, it can provide role models, time and opportunities that are difficult, if not impossible, to duplicate elsewhere. Green Cove is looking for mature, fun-loving, outgoing individuals who have a love for the outdoors and the desire and ability to communicate sound values and attitudes to young people. They should be able to teach one or more of our activities. The average age is about 25. The youngest is 18, and through a year of college. Our overall counselor to camper ratio is better than four to one, which allows the counselor more opportunity to impact the experience of the kids.

Introduction to rock climbing in Jersey
T he island of Jersey provides a really special and enjoyable climbing experience. This is partly due to the sheer quality of the rock, the routes and the beautiful setting, but is more especially to do with its peaceful and unspoilt nature. Unusually, for what is technically a British climbing area, Jersey rock climbing is fairly recent compared to the mountain areas where rock climbing has existed for hundreds of years, or even Cornwall where the first routes date from 1902. C limbing development had been sporadic and infrequent between the first routes in the early 1960s, and the explosion of activity beginning in the mid-1980s.
