. . . to Friends and Partners Romania We are pleased to announce this new service whose mission is to enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of Romania and North America. The concept is to provide a common, non commercial, and non proselytizing 'meeting place' where people can find and communicate with each other on matters of mutual interest. We also hope that this service will also provide a useful framework within which to integrate much of the explosive growth in Internet content pertaining to Romania. We hope to work with and build upon the good efforts of so many initiatives on the Internet today in introducing the culture and people of Romania to the world - as well as the many organizations who have been working towards the same goal of cooperation and friendship for the past several years. Creating "Friends and Partners Romania" is itself an act of friendship - developed over the past year by friends in Romania, Russia, and the U.S. - individuals separated by thousands of miles but united by common concern of promoting better understanding and exchange across cultures - and by common interest in exploring how new technologies might be used for that purpose. It is the latest member of a family of projects created by the original " Friends and Partners " effort - active since 1994 bringing together friends from around the world with an interest in countries of the former Soviet Union.

Romania, China Sign Culture Cooperation Agreement
The Chinese and Romanian governments signed a culture cooperation agreement for 2001-2004 in the Romanian capital of Bucharest on Friday.
The accord was signed by Chinese Vice Culture Minister Ai Qingchun and Mihai Razvan Unguleanu, state secretary of the Romanian Foreign Ministry, on behalf of their respective governments.
The signing of the new culture cooperation agreement between the two governments was an important event in their bilateral relations, said Unguleanu after the signing ceremony. Through the concerted efforts of both sides, culture exchanges between the two countries have expanded to include new areas and have been playing a positive role in deepening the friendly cooperative relations between the two countries and two peoples, the state secretary added. For his part, Ai said the agreement was a new one oriented to the new century, and he expressed the hope that cultural exchanges between the two countries would be further strengthened.

: In primul razboi mondial, in lunile iulie-august 1917, armata germana, incercand sa strapunga frontul româno-rus si sa ocupe teritoriul României dintre Siret si Prut, dezlantuie in sectorul Marasesti o puternica ofensiva. Au loc lupte inversunate. Desi inferiori numeric, românii reusesc sa respinga atacul armatelor germane. In amintirea acestei victorii s-a inaltat Mausoleul de la Marasesti. Aici exista un cimitir original, unic in lume, o reala perla a culturii românesti (Cimitirul Vesel). Ideea a apartinut mesterului Stan Petreus si dateaza din 1935. Crucile gravate si colorate de Stan Petreus si de ucenicii sai prezinta caricatural atat obiceiurile bune, cat si pe cele rele, ale celor raposati.

Profile of an ecotour in romania consisting of Nature, culture History ofTransylvania. Nature, culture History of Transylvania

of Transylvania Host:
Count Tibor Kalnoky When: Year round. Length of visit: an itinerary of two weeks is proposed, though a visit of any length is possible. Number of guests: Two or more Fee: The 14-day-itinerary costs 945 Euro per person in a double room. For two,
that makes 1890 Euro, for 4 = 3780 Euro. This includes full board with wine and all activities/tours. THE LODGING
Count Kálnoky's guesthouses date back to the 1800s, although parts of them are much older, as some medieval shooting embrasures reveal. They are situated within the village in spacious gardens. Storks nest nearby and a little stream crosses the garden. The houses have been extensively restored to regain their old charm and character. Children are particularly welcome in Miklósvár. Comfort is a priority, and we have paid particular attention to bathrooms and by building a sauna. Furniture is all antique and original. The heating system is also original and based on wood-stoves.As this remote village has no infrastructure, we do not claim technical perfection The streets may be muddy after rain and occasional power cuts might occur. Perhaps this adds to the originality and character of the place. The specific atmosphere of the houses is full of its own charm and provides a similar experience as the castle would do after renovation. The houses are also equipped for children of all ages.
