The Tajik-Persian poetry, prose, manuscript, miniature has developed during many centuries. The most famous period of its growth is the time of feudal society formation, to which there preceded the gains of Iran and Central Asia by arabs and the subsequent islamisation of these people. This ideological base was unified for a number of territories and people, that caused a generality of culture development as a whole. At the end of 10th century, Firdowsi creates his famous heroic epopee "Shakhname", outweighing all existed works. 11th century was marked by creation of such genre as romantic epos. Dear ladies and gentlemen I would like to express my gratitude to International organization UNESCO, to National Commission for UNESCO in Kyrgyzstan ,  to Javad Mottaghi Director of AIBD and to another organizers of this seminar which so useful and important for mass media workers. Frankly speaking that Tajikistan mass media staff need in such educational actions. After independence Tajikistan republic is going on the way of legal, democratic and high social order and as another republics of the former Soviet Union is on the period of transition. There were many global changes in all fields of the public life during 10 years in spite of civil war. First of all these changes were touched mass media. Legislative basis of mass media was developing simultaneously with changes which were in the republic. We could say that there is the process of the transition from censorship to freedom of speech, from rate regulation to independence but there are many objective and subjective problems and difficulties.  The legislative basis for democratic functioning of mass media was created. It were assigned the freedom of speech and mass media in constitution and in “Press and another mass media law”, in “Television and radio law”, in “Publishing law”, in “Author and another allied rights law” and in “Information law” which were recognized as the most democratic on the Soviet post territory. These laws served to appearance and increase numbers of different mass media in

    CULTURE
Cultural guidelines The best way to learn a new culture is to participate in it. Spend time with people, observe people and pay attention to how they interact and behave. The guidelines on this page are just a few hints to help you to get started. Tajiks are, on the whole, very friendly and hospitable towards guests in their country. Most will quickly overlook any cultural misdemeanors. You can keep mistakes to a minimum and avoid causing offense by following these simple suggestions. Bread
  • Bread is considered to have a life of its own. It must be treated with respect. Never put flat bread ( non ) face down. Never let bread (or breadcrumbs) fall to the ground, and don't throw it out with ordinary rubbish/trash. Leftover bread should be put on a shelf or windowsill or used to feed animals.
  • Behaviour in public
    • Dress modestly. Shorts or short skirts are not recommended. Ask permission before taking photographs of people (unless you have a good zoom lens and can do it surreptitiously from a distance).
On being a guest You probably won't have been in Tajikistan for very long before someone invites you into their home. Accept the invitation; there is no better way to get to know the real Tajikistan. The Tajiks take hospitality very seriously!
