The Job Corps training program includes classroom work and hands-on projects supervised by certified Job Corps instructors. Job Corps provides an interactive approach to learning, and allows students to progress at their own pace. Instructors provide individual attention to ensure proper techniques and procedures are applied to each task. May 28, 2002 Through the Apprenticeship Enhancement Fund, the Ontario government is investing $50 million over five years to help colleges renew their training facilities and equip them to train more apprentices to industry standards of excellence. Employers need skilled workers to compete in today's global marketplace. The table below highlights approved projects for the first year of the Fund's operation.

Courses in industrial technology and trades provide students with a hands-on approach to learning about materials, tools, machines and processes used in various industries and occupations. The student will learn and practice skills in a setting similar to the work place. Skills can be learned in automotive technology, autobody and welding, carpentry, criminal justice, drafting, electronics, food occupations, health occupations, machining and wood technology. Skills learned can be used in everyday life or as preparations for a job. 1-2 semesters 0.5 credit each
This course may be taken for one semester or for a full year. Topics include drafting, wood technology, metal work, electricity, and technology. This course is highly recommended for any students who would like to take any additional industrial or trades courses. The program will contain shop procedures involving both hand and power tools, with considerable emphasis on shop safety.
