This Care Sheet was Supplied By Agama International
Care sheet for Australian water dragons Food: Newly arrived water dragons will normally start eating after 3-4 days as they need some time to adjust to their new surroundings. If you have recently arrived water dragons, it is important to have the temperature inside the terrarium high enough (80F) if you want them to start eating soon. As in Australia they will stop eating when days get shorter and cooler; they may do the same in your terrarium if temperatures and light periods decrease. At Agama International, Inc. we feed them mainly superworms as they can be fed from a feeding dish. This allows for very easy checking on their feeding habits. They also eat crickets. The drawback with gray- or house-crickets is that they are nocturnal and hide during the day, while the lizards are diurnal, meaning they are active during the day. So it can happen that there are more crickets in the terrarium then needed, and that the crickets disturb the lizards at night. Of the cockroaches you should never feed German or American ones for obvious reasons (they will escape and become a true pest in the house). Hissing cockroaches, and deadhead cockroaches (Blaperus cranifer) can be fed easily from a container with smooth sides.

44. Eastern Water Dragon - Maggil's Country
Maggil is a young Eastern water dragon. Eastern water dragons can run very fastto catch food or eat small animals like frogs, crabs, small lizards and insects
http://brisbane-stories.powerup.com.au/maggil/01welcome/mag11_easternwdrag.htm

Maggil is a young Eastern Water Dragon

Eastern Water Dragons can run very fast to catch food or escape if they are being chased. They love to eat small animals like frogs, crabs, small lizards and insects, but also enjoy berries and fruit that grow near the creek. They are coloured greenish grey with yellowish black markings on their cheeks and back. These colours help these dragons to hide in the bushes near the creek. When the males become mature they grow a crest on their head and chest which is a rich red or orange-red. Red and golden-yellow colour patches will appear on their chest and the sides of their bodies. Then it will be time for the males to find female mates!
Maggil's mother has laid many eggs, about 10-20 in every clutch. She digs holes in the soft earth of the creek banks to lay them in. Water Dragons may measure as much a 90cm, although one was found near Bundaburg (Central Queensland) that measured over 1.2m. EasternWater Dragons are found in eastern and southern Australia and another relative lives in the west of Australia. They live in freshwater creeks and rivers, but can tolerate salt or brackish coastal mangroves. You will probably find Eastern Water Dragons around the Boondall Wetlands.
"On the evidence of Ridley and Petrie, the Moggill district was in Turrbal territory. ....The word Moggill (or Maggil) means "large water lizard", the type that sits on logs and jumps into the water if disturbed. These lizards are still plentiful on the banks of the Brisbane River, especially where trees such as bottle-brush (Callistemon) lean out over the water. Cubberla Creek at Kenmore takes its name from the scrub possum (kabarla), which was greatly prized for its fur and made into warm cloaks for the winter months. "

Brief and consise overview of dragon care
This book contains the 'basic'care and handling information necessary to take care of your water dragon, however, if you are interested in an in-depth look at these wonderous creatures, or more detailed information regarding their care and history, you may feel a little unsatisfied after this short read. It is accurate information, and does give you a 'general' (as the title states) idea of what it takes to care for a dragon. N(137412) Prices in US Dollars, and are subject to change until ordered.

http://www.genesispark.org/genpark/iguana/iguana.htm
The term iguana refers to a large species of typically New World lizards. Lizards are part of the subclass Lepidosauria which in recent years has been considered a subdivisions of the super order, Dinosauria. Iguanas regularly grow to more than 1.5 m (5 ft) in total length. Marine iguanas will often swim along shore but can dive to depths more than 10.5 m (35 ft), remaining submerged for up to 30 minutes feeding on algae. Their sharp spines and tough, flat faces give them a foreboding appearance. When approached, marine iguanas can puff a kind of steam through their noses, intimidating predators like the dragons of old! The common iguana eats both plants and animals, including leaves and fruit, insects, birds, and small mammals. The well-known dinosaur Iguanodon received its name because its teeth resembled those of the iguana. To the left is the sail-tailed Water Dragon (Hydrosaurus amboinensis) which grows over 1 m (3 ft.) in length and usually lives near streams in Asia. Aided by fringes on the toes of its hind feet, it can run on the surface of the water for some distance before sinking and swimming away.

Introducing Heathcliffe
Heathcliffe is a Water Dragon.
Not an ordinary lizard.
Heathcliffe is special.
He can swim, climb trees, run on his hind legs and do all sorts of things that ordinary lizards can't. He's also a very handsome lizard. He has black and green and brown stripes, and two splendid yellow splotches on his sides. When he sits still in the garden, you can hardly see him, he blends in so well with the background. He's also a very big lizard, nearly three feet long from the point of his nose to the tip of his long thin tail. He has spiky bits on his head and along his back. He thinks the spiky bits make him look very smart. Sometimes he looks at his reflection in the swimming pool and admires himself. Heathcliffe is very vain. He lives in a beautiful garden at a small hotel in Byron Bay. He's sure it's just the best place to live in the world. The Hotel is run by Alison, who looks after the guests and cooks the breakfasts, and by Ken, who takes care of the garden. The hotel is not very big. It was an old house, built nearly a hundred years ago. Last year, the builders changed the house from top to bottom. They knocked down old bits and painted everything in sight. They made an awful mess, but now it's all clean, shiny and peaceful again. It has a very big garden filled with palm trees and tropical plants and gum trees. There is a splendid swimming pool in the garden with deep blue tiles. Just the perfect place for a Water Dragon like Heathcliffe.

Green, or Chinese, Water Dragon
Physignathus cocincinus (Green Water Dragon)
P. lesueurii (Australian Water Dragon)
P. tempralis (Asian Water Dragon)
Water dragons are native to the Southeast Asian mainland and Indo-Australian archipelago. Most imports arrive from Thailand or southern China. Males typically reach 3 ft; females are somewhat smaller. Males develop larger heads, jowls and crest on the back of the neck, and their femoral pores are somewhat larger than on the female. Always have new animals checked by a vet for internal and external parasites (bring a fresh fecal sample if you can - or get one to the vet at the soonest opportunity), hydration, nutritional status and overall health. You need a large enclosure. The reason most are missing much of their faces, rubbed off from the snout back past the front teeth, is that they will literally rub their flesh off trying to get out of a too small enclosure. They need space at least 2 x their total length - so you are talking min 6 ft long (side to side), at least 2-3 feet deep and 4-6 feet high to do it right. Green and Australian can be kept together, with one to three males in a room-sized enclosure. Some females can be domineering and may not want any other females around...others can co-habit with 3-4 females. You must monitor to assure ALL are feeding and basking properly. If any aren't, you are seeing the results of intimidation and will need to increase the number of basking and feeding areas and/or increase enclosure size or separate them.

The Asian Water Dragon
Physignathus Cocincinus Hello, my name is Amanda Paris. I am a student at COIC and the owner of an Asian Water Dragon named Anubis. I have created this site to properly inform people on the proper care of the Asian Water Dragon. Hopefully you will find this site very informative and interesting at the same time. Water Dragons are members of a very lage lizard family called Agamidae. Although their nervous habits and somewhat complicated housing and feeding needs make them more of a lizard for the advanced or intermediate hobbyist.
Appearence
The Asian Water Dragon is a semi-aquatic, arboreal, tropical lizard of Asia and Austrilia. The Water Dragon is mainly green, with darker areas on the head and joints. The chin and throat are white to light yellow, and the underside is white to pale green. Water dragons do not have a dewlap, but posses large skin folds. A prominent dorsal crest runs from the neck to the tail. Juveniles are typically diagonally banded with 3-5 light stripes, usually pale blue to green in color, that disappear with age. The Eastern water dragon, from Australia, resembles the asian water dragon in size and shape but is brown, with gray to gray-brown underside. Broad black and narrow stripes run through the back and down to the tail of the animal. A very prominent dark horizontal stripe may be visible on each side of the head, running through the eye down to the neck. Like the Asian sub-species, a dorsal crest runs from the head down to the tail.

60. ROUGH GUIDE TO LIZARDS(2)
Agama spp). Agamids are actually a large family of lizards that alsoincludes the Uromastyx, the Bearded dragon and water dragon.
http://www.nafcon.dircon.co.uk/lizards5.html
FROM NOVICE TO EXPERT….(2)
LEVEL 2: Just one or two drawbacks with these…..
Green or Brown Anoles ( Anolis spp
A lot of pet shops will have a tank of these small lizards, the green or brown anole. While not very demanding in terms of space, heat or lighting, small lizards do need smaller-sized prey, which is not always available. Furthermore, the small lizards always seem to be incredibly fast and tricky to catch hold of, and tend to hate being handled. A cage full of anoles makes a good display, if you don't mind a hands-off approach.
Small Skinks and Swifts (various, but mainly Eumeces spp Mabuya and Sceloropus spp
See the remarks about Green and Brown Anoles. If anything, Swifts are even quicker, acting rather like squirrels and chipmunks do, leaping from branch to branch (or shoulder to shoulder). The small skinks (eg Golden Skinks) are attractive creatures but have the same disadvantages, and in addition tend to spend a lot of time hiding until they get used to their surroundings. Both types also seem to come in many different varieties, which can be a bit confusing.
African Fat-Tailed Geckos ( Hemitheconyx caudicinctus
Although very similar to the Leopard Gecko (both belong the Eublepharid, or "eyelid" branch of the gecko family), African Fat-Tails are somewhat more delicate and prone to going on prolonged hunger strikes. Also, owing to the smaller availability of captive-bred stock, most are wild-caught. At least one shop I saw had lumped their Fat-Tail in with a Leopard Gecko (both male), which obviously did not suit either party. They are beautiful, but the doe-eyed appearance belies a determined bite if they feel threatened.
