West Virginia Sheep Management Project Project Mission Home The West Virginia Sheep Management Project is an outreach of West Virginia University. The long-term goal of the Project is to help farmers realize a greater return to sheep production and to help revitalize the sheep industry in West Virginia. Curriculum and teaching methods vary by state. However, the overall purpose of many of these programs is to provide loggers with the "critical thinking skills" needed to improve their harvesting practices, work safety, economic viability and protect the environment. In addition, they address public concerns and fears about timber harvesting, that could preclude unwarranted regulations and local logging ordinances.
