Welcome To The Wiccan Garden
When one defines oneself as Pagan, it means she or he follows an earth or nature religion, one that sees the divine manifest in all creation. The cycles of nature are our holy days, the earth is our temple, its plants and creatures our partners and teachers. We worship a deity that is both male and female, a mother Goddess and father God, who together created all that is, was, or will be. We respect life, cherish the free will of sentient beings, and accept the sacredness of all creation.
~Edain McCoy
We are not evil.
We don't harm or seduce people.
We are not dangerous.
We are ordinary people like you.
We have families, jobs, hopes, and dreams.
We are not a cult.
This religion is not a joke.
We are not what you think we are from looking at T.V.
We are real. We laugh, we cry. We are serious. We have a sense of humor. You don't have to be afraid of us. We don't want to convert you. And please don't try to convert us. Just give us the same right we give you to live in peace. We are much more similar than you think.

Index Page Return to: A Mystickal Grove Welcome ! This website was set up to study and celebrate the Wiccan / Pagan Sabbats. We hope that by providing this website, interest in celebrating the Sabbats will grow ! While every day of life should be celebrated, there are 8 special times during the year that we come together, either in person or in spirit, to celebrate the changes taking place. These 8 great days are called Sabbats, or if you prefer, holidays. The Wiccan / Pagan calendar is called a wheel, because all holidays relate to others either in similarity or in opposition. For example, Yule is the Winter solstice, while the sabbat directly opposite of it on the wheel, Litha, is the Summer Solstice. The Wheel of the Year is based upon the changing seasons. It also depicts the birth/life/death of the Sun God, and the life progression (maiden, mother, crone) of the Goddess.

FAST FACTS ON WICCA AND PAGANISM:
    • Wicca is arguably the best-known of pagan religions.
    • It is based on the pre-Christian beliefs of tribes in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, although its origins go back back to Paleolithic peoples who worshipped a hunter god and a fertility goddess.
    • Wiccans feel that nature is divine and as such are strong environmentalists. They celebrate cycles of the sun and moon and often worship outdoors. Some do so in the nude.
    • Wiccans believe all plants and animals in the world are equal and will often say a prayer of thanks before doing something as simple as pulling out a garden carrot.
    • Like Christians, Wiccans believe you should not harm anyone, including yourself. If you do harm or good, such actions will come back to you three times, they believe.
    • Most believe in some form of reincarnation, however there is no concept of heaven and hell or sin.

    79. Proteus Library: Exegesis On The Rede
An updated analysis of what the wiccan Rede teaches us, by Judy Harrow.
    http://wicca.drak.net/proteus/rede.htm
Back to: [ Proteus home Library
    Exegesis on the Rede
We come to the Craft with a first generation's joy of discovery, and a first generation's memory of bored hours of routine worship in our childhood. Because we have known the difference, it is our particular challenge to find or make ways to keep the Craft a living, real experience for our grandchildren and for the students of our students. I think the best of these safeguards is already built into the Craft as we know it, put there by our own good teachers. On our Path, the mystic experience itself is shared, not just the fruits of mysticism. We give all our students the techniques, and the protective/supportive environment that enable almost every one of them to Draw the Moon and/or Invoke the God. This is an incredibly radical change from older religions, even older Pagan religions, in which the only permissible source of inspiration has been to endlessly reinterpret and reapply the vision of the Founder (the Bible , the Book of the Law , the Koran , ... ). The practice of Drawing the Moon is the brilliant crown of the Craft.

    Introduction
by Gwyneth Cathyl-Harrow The Counseling Workshop, and these notes, are intended for use by initiated Witches, or those who studying towards initiation and who are working with the guidance of an Elder. They are not intended to substitute for appropriate training in pastoral counseling, whether through formal academic studies or apprenticeship. It takes more than a weekend to learn to be a counselor; but even in the short time available, we can work on acquiring some of the counseling 'survival skills' needed by a working Priest/ess. Nevertheless, we should bear in mind our limits: we cannot help everyone who comes to us. Some people need help from psychologists, surgeons or other clinicians pastoral counseling is for them at best an adjunct to the help they really need, and at worst it may do them harm. Opinions expressed within these notes are solely those of the authors, and must not be construed as being the opinions, practices or precepts of any Tradition or organisation. We do not seek to identify the religious affiliation of any of the authors, other than to note that they belong to various faith groups. May these words and the manner of their sharing bring good to many and harm to none.
