The Night Safari is the world's first wildlife park built to be viewed at night. It is not an ordinary zoo simply illuminated by night or a modern version of nocturnal houses found in many zoos. Set in 40 hectares of dense secondary forest, the Night Safari offers guests the unique experience of exploring wildlife in a tropical jungle at night. Through the use of subtle lighting technique, guests are able to view over 1000 nocturnal animals of 100 species in vast naturalistic habitats. The birth of the Night Safari is a result of a combination of factors. The overwhelming response to night tours conducted at the Zoo in the late 1980s indicated a demand for wholesome night entertainment. Displaying tropical animals at night seemed ideal since 90% of them are nocturnal and therefore most active after dusk. Singapore's predictable sunset at around 7.30pm and cool nights with little rainfall mean fewer operational problems for an outdoor night attraction. The Night Safari took four years to plan and three to construct. It was officially opened on May 26 1994 by Prime Minister, Mr Goh Chok Tong.

For More Information Why a Web Site? Although my main interest is birds and bird song, as the cover of my book (above) may suggest, I am fascinated with all forms of wildlife. I have often quickly turned from a bird I was observing, to follow the progress of some other form of wildlife....a porcupine, or a snake, or a lizard, or an interesting insect. Many of these "distractions" have turned into "special moments" that I have been lucky enough to capture on film. I would like to share, here, with those of you interested in the great outdoors, my special interest in bird song and the birds, as well as my fascination with wildlife in general. What is the CWE? Mission Statement General Information People ... Links Background
In 1993, a collaboration by the Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS), the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Simon Fraser University was initiated to provide an interface between the mission-oriented research and management policies of the Canadian Wildlife Service and the more theoretical approach to research of the university community. By encouraging this interface, the government agencies would gain access to a broader base of scientific information for government policy and decision making and university researchers would benefit from a broader practical application for the more theoretical ideas which their disciplines generate.
The focal point of this collaboration is the NSERC/CWS Chair of Wildlife Ecology, currently held by Fred Cooke . The Chair brings together a large group of faculty, postdoctoral and gradute-student researchers, working together on several new studies of wildlife ecology, with specializations in behavioural, population and physiological ecology. The main centre of Chair activities is in the Department of Biological Sciences For annual reports of CWE research and activities

Special Appearances Welcome to the website home of Moose Peterson. I started this website 8 years ago for one very simplistic reason, to furnish wildlife photographers with information to make the most of their photographic pursuits. Much has changed over those eight year besides just the website design! I was shooting with the F4e when I first launched the site. The F5 came along shortly thereafter and along with it our now infamous F5 website D1 Generation and the eBook The D100 and D1 Generation Update . Producing books not only takes time but for me at least, quickly removes the desire to write even more technical material for the website. Lastly, much of the digital content I have generated is has been for our sister site

HIP (aka Harvest Information Program) is a nationwide program designed to help improve harvest estimates of migratory bird species and, in Colorado, resident small game species. ALL small game hunters need to sign up for HIP each year and take the opportunity to update their address and phone information as well as hunting history and, for some of our resident species, preference information. Using the HIP database to conduct post-season harvest surveys has helped the Fish and Wildlife Service and the Colorado Division of Wildlife to improve the precision of our harvest estimates. This information is important for setting season dates as well as bag limits for small game species.
To get your HIP number please go to the Division’s Harvest Information Program online form or call 1-866-265-6447 (COLOHIP). For more information on HIP, please go to the

information on native plant, bird, butterfly and wildlife gardening in Florida.
http://www.nsis.org/garden/garden-native-wildlife.html
Wildlife Gardening Gardening for wildlife is simple if you're aware of what wildlife is in your area and what their needs are. You may wish to attract wildlife to feed in your yard or go further and provide a diverse habitat. Wildlife habitat necessities
Cover
Plants provide wildlife with protection from weather and predators as well as a place to rest, eat, and raise young. Often plants also provide food, and some will collect rain water for drinking, too.
Food
All wildlife feed on plants or other animals. Ideally, the diversity of plants in the yard will provide year-round food.
Water
Fresh drinking water is essential for wildlife. Some animals need bodies of water for egg laying and early development and some live partially or entirely in water. Ponds are gaining in popularity, but simply placing a birdbath or large plant saucer filled with fresh water will supply the needs of a wide variety of wildlife.

OVERVIEW Habitats Strategies Partners Accomplishments ... WYOMING Introduction and General Description The Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program in Kansas has been driven by two guiding beliefs. The first is recognizing the value of our native plant communities, not only for their biological diversity, but also their sustainability and their productivity. The second has been to build into the Partners Program the flexibility necessary to make it accommodate the needs of both the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the private landowner/producer. The Kansas Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program has utilized this philosophy to voluntarily assist private landowners to restore, enhance, and develop thousands of acres of highly functional wetland, grassland, and woodland habitats throughout the state. Since 1990, the Partners Program has partnered with over 700 Kansas landowners. The number of new requests for assistance continues to accelerate. Gail Combs, Kansas farmer and Partners cooperator, says this about the Kansas Partners Program, "This program does so much good and works so well with me as an agricultural producer and an environmentalist, that it hardly seems possible that a government program could work this well."
