My baby shower was in August and this is our first child. My mother's friend makes soap and made one for all of the guests with a computerized label. In addition, personalized soap baskets were made for me, my husband, and the godparents which I gave out at the end of opening my gifts.

Wear more lingerie, make more babies more often. Especially in the cold Northwest. Lingerie will keep you much warmer than my girlfriend's favorite to bed wear...Flannel
Frustrated in Flannel I am giving a baby shower next month for a friend. I agonized over party favors but came up with a good idea by accident. I was looking for something functional as opposed to something that would just be discarded.

Books that influenced you the most....(philosophical)
greenspun.com LUSENET Countryside : One Thread User FAQ I was thinking that most people here seem to be very well read and articulate. Since I am an avid reader I am always looking for interesting books to read, and sometimes an escape from the "How to" world seems just the ticket, I would love to know what books have had the largest influence on you. Of course, the Bible would be the greatest influence for any Christian, but I am interested in seeing what other books have had a large impact on you. So I guess I will go first...and limit myself to 3! 1) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (all 5) 2) My Side of the Mountain 3) How to Build a Flying Saucer and other proposals in Speculative Engineering. Thanks for playing!

I've asked this question myself on another forum, and got lots of very interesting answers. My absolute favorites are "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand, IMHO far and away the best novel ever written.

    - Hi Lynn - How are you?
    lynn/sc/3 - hi kelly!
lynn/sc/3 - I have had sweaty palms all day..... I sent in my loan app to SCCTR and my app for EC-Gen.... this is silly to be so apprehensive
Kelly - Nope - not silly at all! But you'll do fine! The sweaty palms come and go for the whole year! Kelly - Have you been able to read any of the books on the reading list? lynn/sc/3 - i sure hope not..... I have seen what they are asking for, and except for the aging down to reach kindergarten I think I can do this, but i guess it is the committment.. lynn/sc/3 - i have a few of them, and enough experience that i should be able to do this....i am lagging.... you got your post up before i got in my response Kelly - It does take a serious commitment! But you'll have lots of help with the Assessment Center preparation......so don't worry about that now!

My plans are to be the best father I can be right now." "What do you think that includes?" "Loving him." Joey said simply, with a shrug. "And doing everything I can for him." "I don’t need your money Joey." Alyssa crossed her arms over her chest. "I’m not offering money." Joey looked into his lap and shook his head, "I’m offering me." Alyssa was silent for a minute, then sighed, "Joey, if this is something you can’t do right now, I’ll understand. I don’t want to pressure you into anything." "Alyssa…" Joey looked up at her slowly, "It would be a lot easier if you
