home schedule about us join us ... history Thursday, April 10, 2003 Revival News Abby and I are so excited and have such an anticipation for this year. We believe this is "Our Year" and because you are a part of Him and a part of us this is "Your Year." this is a year of great favor and effectual doors opening.
In a meeting in Sudbury, on February the 2nd, the Lord downloaded into my spirit through a vision a strong word of direction, caution and encouragement for the church.
I saw a huge ship in harbor with her engines idling. A tug boat was pulling her out to deep waters since the engines can't function full throttle in shallow waters. On close inspection I saw that the name of the ship was called "The Church" and the name of the tug boat was called "Grace." "Grace" was pulling "The Church" out into deeper waters where she would become fully functional. The tug boat Grace however disengaged from the ship once in deeper water and the Holy Spirit spoke this word to me, "Truth must now become the propeller to propel "The Church" forward. I believe that in order for the church to continue into uncharted waters, we must receive "The love of the truth." (2 Thessalonians 2:10)
As a husband and wife team, together with our children and Beverly, we constantly make petitions for you to the Father. You will know the mind of Christ, severed relationships will be restored and financial breakthroughs are on your horizon.

Youth Put Newfoundland Fishing History On-Line
ST. JOHN'S, July 6, 1999 Today marked the launch of the The Newfoundland Salt Fisheries: A Digital Exhibit , a web site showcasing the development of the salt fisheries industry in Newfoundland and Labrador. The site was created by Newfoundland and Labrador youth under Canada's Digital Collections program in partnership with the Provincial Archives of Newfoundland and Laborador (PANL) and the Centre for Material Culture Studies (CMCS) of Memorial University of Newfoundland. PANL and CMCS provided the historical content and facilities to develop the web site.
John Manley, Minister of Industry, extended his congratulations to the youth project team. "These young people have made a unique part of Newfoundland and Labrador's history available to a worldwide audience on the Information Highway," said Minister Manley. "This project supports the Government of Canada's Connecting Canadians Strategy by contributing to the development of on-line Canadian content. This project has also armed the young site builders with important information technology and web-page design skills."
The Newfoundland Salt Fisheries: A Digital Exhibit explores the rich heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador's salt fisheries, utilizing over 400 historic images, audio and video clips, slide shows, maps, charts and texts. Covering over 400 years of history, the site takes viewers back to the 1500's when the industry began.

The mercantile saltfish premises at Battle Harbour were established by the firm of of Poole, England in the early 1770s. Lying just north of the old French Shore , Battle Harbour served as the gateway for Newfoundlanders seeking to fish unmolested in the resource rich waters of Labrador. Battle Harbour's location led to the Slade premises becoming the major base for the region's cod and seal fisheries and for the commercial trade that led to the formation of a permanent community.
The local population increased rapidly after 1820 when Newfoundland fishing schooners adopted Battle Harbour as their primary port of call and made it the recognized capital of the Labrador floater fishery who operated the site in much the same manner until 1955. The activity of these two firms at Battle Harbour serve as an accurate microcosm of the history of Newfoundland and Labrador's fishery over almost two centuries. Earle Brothers Freighting Services who continued the site's operation until the decline in the inshore fishery at the start of the 1990s. At that time the site was turned over to the Battle Harbour Historic Trust. The community's permanent residents had been relocated under a government-sponsored resettlement program from 1965 to 1970, although a number of families still use the site as a seasonal home. The level of activity at Battle Harbour resulted in community development that was unparalleled along the rest of the Labrador coast.

LABRADOR HISTORY Tantalizing scraps of evidence show a fascinating sequence of occupation since the retreat of the Laurentide glacier from Labrador, about 10,000 years ago. The earliest records to date are that of an Indian boy buried at L'Anse Amour about 6095 BC and a site at Black Island Cove in the north, dated about 4045 BC. These early people were known as Maritime Archaic. They were overlapped by Early Paleao-Eskimo, followed by Dorset Eskimo and overlapped by the recent Indian and Thule/Labrador Eskimo.
Bjarni Herjolfssom, about 986 AD, was the first European to sight North America and in his travels he described the Labrador coast.
England has claimed Newfoundland and Labrador by virtue of their discovery by John Cabot in 1497.
On a map of 1529 it is written, Terra del Labrador; "This country was discovered by people of the town of Bristol, and because he who first sighted land was a labourer, from the island of the Azores, it was named after him." The Lavrador was Joao Fernandes and the year was 1501. [Lavrador meaning labourer]
